Setup

Getting connected

Four steps, in this order, starting on your iPhone. At the end, your assistant answers in your own numbers and can put the next session on your Apple Watch. HealthBridge is free while it is small, and the coaching runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription.

1

Get the app onto your iPhone

Get HealthBridge for iPhone by installing it from Apple, then open the setup link on that same phone.

Download HealthBridge on the App Store

The app is the only thing that can read Apple Health, so your account is created here. Adding the connector later does not create one; it attaches to the one you already have.

2

Sign in and run the first sync

Open the app and sign in with Apple, Google or GitHub. That is the whole of it; there is nothing to wait for.

If the app says your account is switched off, write to hello@mtnlabs.ai.

Allow the Health categories it asks for and let the first sync run. It brings over up to two years of history from any watch or device that writes to Apple Health; after that, only what is new.

Allow all of them. A category you decline looks exactly like a category with no data, and the app cannot tell you which happened.

3

Add the connector to your assistant

HealthBridge is a standard MCP server. Claude and ChatGPT are both tested, and anything that supports MCP connectors works.

Add to Claude

That opens Claude with the address already filled in. You confirm it there and sign in; the link grants nothing on its own. It works best on the computer where you use Claude, because Anthropic still treats adding connectors on a phone as a beta path.

For ChatGPT, or to do it by hand, find custom connectors in your assistant's settings and paste:

Sign in with the same provider you used in the app and you are done. A different one means a code, which is step 4.

One connector per site per account. If you already have a HealthBridge connector, remove it before adding another, or the new one will not attach.

4

If you were asked for a code

Open the app, tap Connect Claude or ChatGPT in Settings, then Show me a code. Type the eight-character code into the page your assistant sent you to.

The code links the new sign-in to the account you already have, so you do not open an empty second one. It is good for ten minutes and works once.

What to ask first

“How has my sleep been this month?” The answer tells you at once whether the sync worked.

When you want a plan, say what you are training for and when. Your assistant writes and publishes the sessions; they land in the app, and each can go to your Apple Watch as a structured workout with heart-rate or pace targets.

To see the block in your ordinary calendar, ask for a calendar feed (health_calendar_feed). You get a subscription link for Apple or Google Calendar showing each session as an all-day entry with its steps and targets. It is read-only and you can revoke it at any time.

Two caveats. Calendar apps decide for themselves how often to re-read a subscription, usually hours, so a plan you publish now will not appear immediately. And the feed shows your current plan and nothing else: publish a new block and the previous block's sessions leave the calendar.
